Puddle jumping

We are having a wonderful taste of Spring today!

I decided to puddle-jump instead of be grouchy with all the standing water from melting snow – after all, clothes and body can be washed and dried – why not have some fun and adventure? (yeah, even if I look a little stupid doing it!)

My cardinal friend just kind of sat there and watched me…

probably wondering why I just didn’t take off!

Happy as a duck in water

Literally –

100_1990

Don’t they look happy?!

I think we’re all a bit happy to see water that’s not iced up or snowed over…

even this girl is finding it a little less easy to fully embrace the current season.

The good news (still not complaining) is that Spring begins in less than 3 weeks (technically!)

The snow sure is pretty though.

And the air is crisp and fresh.

Oh, and let’s not forget the ducks – they’re happy!

Have a great week!

Saturday Signboard #35

Not everyone will understand your dreams, passions, or ambitions.

And that’s okay!

100_0178

Believe in yourself.

Hasenpfeffer

Today’s photos tell a little story (how fun!)

Once upon a time there was a giant snow-cat named Louden who loved to go outside every day to survey his vast (but fenced-in) kingdom.

One day, Louden caught a scent of something nummy that he would like in his belly.

So he followed the scent behind some recycling bins (he was very eco-conscious!) and an old wheelbarrow.

But, alas,  he couldn’t get close enough because of the mighty snow drifts!

So he peered around the visual obstacles to spot his dream dinner.

And there it was:

Hasenpfeffer!

ahem, I mean:

A Bunny!

But Louden’s staff photographer scared off the bunny before he could reach it. (darn it!)

And it ran away – from behind the wheelbarrow, past the recycle bins, over the drifts of snow, and through the space in the fence to the relative safety of the neighbor’s kingdom.

All Louden could do was watch it run.

And he thought, “meh, I don’t like fast food anyway!” (get it?! hehe!!)

The end.

Have a great week!

Bird watching

Spent a little time this weekend with my favorite fine feathered friend!

I hadn’t seen him for a while.

Must have had something to do with the weather, what with all the wind and snow and super-cold temps!

Anyway, he chirps until I spot him, then he comes out and poses for me.

AHHHH!! Fresh air & sunshine!

Nice!

Say “Why Not?”

If I understand one thing fully it’s this:  the only thing that can truly stop me from reaching my goals and fulfilling my dreams, is me.

Even when the world rears up and gets in my face ~ and gives me every reason to give up ~ I am the one who still holds the power through choice and belief.

That’s not special just for me, ya know.

“To achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, determination, and dedication.”

Butterfly

All things are possible for those who believe.

Geese

Walking in a nearby park and I come upon a couple of geese…

who apparently did not get the memo:

Fly South!

Fly South!

Do you see that the one closer to me was chattering at me.

And when I turned to walk away from them, it turned to chase after me.

Geese are mean! (they really are, we had some when I lived on a farm ~ seriously mean little buggers!)

Anyway,  I turned back and walked towards them.

So they flew off.

But went north (duh!)

Fine Feathered Friend

Every morning I go outside (mostly at the loud urging of my assistant) and one of the first things I do is put down seed for the birds.

And every morning, Mr. Cardinal chirps his greeting to me (how nice!)

…either that or he’s asking me what the heck took me so long to get his food to him.

…or he’s telling me that he sees Louden lurking around and he’s not a fan.

When I replied to him (what? I don’t talk to birds!)

What I meant to say was:
When I listened to his song, it occurred to me that Mr. Cardinal and I have spent some quality time together and, after searching through my photographs, I found that I have in fact chronicled our year together:

4 season cardinal1

Know what else?

It also means that I have completed a Photowalk idea off my list, and I didnt’ even realize it until today!

“follow one subject (ex: tree) throughout the year and photograph it in each season”

Thanks Mr. Cardinal!

Because of this realization and in the spirit of the new year, I’m making a serious effort to be more aware of my artistic goals and ideas; take them more seriously; and improve upon them when I can.

Goals are good!

Quite a pair

Yesterday was for the birds.

Today is for… the bigger birds!

I captured these 2 not so long ago.

100_2095

(I edited their caught dinner out of this photograph. You’re welcome! Trust me, it was gross!! lol!!)

I think it’s cool when I spot an eagle (usually I’ll see one in flight or up in a tree as I’m driving somewhere), and it’s really a special treat when they’re out in the open… but they aren’t friendly (so don’t try this at home! hehe!!)

100_2101

Not long after I clicked this one, they flew off…

not quietly…

but beautifully.
