World Gratitude Day

World Gratitude Day is today (Sept. 21st)
It’s not a well-known or even particularly observed “holiday”
gratitude

But that’s okay.
Let’s just make every day “Gratitude Day”!
It begins like this: “I am grateful for…”
See how easy?!
Thanks for stopping by – have a wonderful day!

Independence Day

Fire up the grill!

Get the sparklers ready!

4th of July

Special Thanks (always!!) to all who serve, and have served, in the Armed Forces!

Have a safe and healthy day of celebration! …and FUN! (that goes without saying, really!)

Thanks for stopping by – have a GREAT Holiday!

Cheers!

Still not complaining

I admit it, the closer it gets to the official start day of Spring, the more difficult it is to “enjoy the current season” (humph!)

And then, I talk to my wonderful friend in Florida today who told me that he was heading to the beach (the one I went to last summer) and that he was having difficulty hearing me with the top down on his convertible.

Not that he was rubbing it in. (yeah, right! he was totally rubbing it in! lol!)

So here’s his view today:

And here’s mine:

At least we both have blue skies!

And in my defense, the snow is melting!

But suddenly, one of us is re-thinking their choice in winter-weather homes.

I wonder… can you guess which one?

(ps: I mentioned I’m still not complaining, right?!)

Smooch

I spent an hour or so outside today.

It was warm enough for some melting and the sun was shining (well, at the moment it still is…) and it just felt good to be outside.

It’s not exactly warm enough to just hang out, after all it is still Winter, so I came back in to do some work.

As I was going through some of my more recent bubble photos I was particularly drawn to the reflection in this one:

Is it just me, or is that bubble reflecting lips?

Pink lips, to be more specific.

Cool, right?!

Well, sorry to…

burst your bubble! (hahaha!! yeah I did!!)…

but it’s not actually pink lips.

I don’t know what is really being reflected – all I know is that when I started writing I knew I just had to do the ‘burst your bubble’ joke! hahaha!!

Lines blurred

To paraphrase Confucius:

If you choose a job you love to do, it’s quite possible you’ll never feel like it’s work.

And if the fun job-thing doesn’t work out, at least you can try to  have a fun hobby! (<— silver lining!!)

Serious art

Sometimes when I set out to spend time with the computer, editing is the furthest thing from my mind or agenda.

But as I continue on this artistic journey, I find that breaking out of the comfortable and into the abstract is becoming more of a desire than a chore.

And I’m finding also that at times editing can take a rather pedestrian photo and make it (at the very least) a bit more fun.

Oscar Wilde once said: “Art is the only serious thing in the world…

and the Artist is the only person who is never serious.”

I don’t think he was being literal (at least I hope not!)

And as far as being serious? I personally wouldn’t go so far as to say ‘never’ – but I certainly attempt it less often!

Saturday Signboard #36

Be grateful for what you have now.

As you begin to think about all the things in your life you are grateful for, you will be amazed at how many thoughts come back to you of more things to be grateful for.

Springing

Hey!

Lookie what I saw today!!

IMG_2785

Yep! That’s a big ol’ robin!

Don’t get your hopes up, though – Spring is still about a month away.

IMG_2786

(sidebar: isn’t the sky color just amazing?!)

Plus, my Gram always said that in this area the true bird-sign of spring is the sighting of Red-winged Black Birds – and she was very wise so I believe it.

So when I see one, you’ll be the first to know!

Let It Go

Sometimes you just have to let things go.

Like a balloon on a string that gets away from you and rises up and up, aided by the wind.

Like Marilyn Monroe said:
“Sometimes things fall apart so better things can fall together.”

Perspective, right?!
